Living with pain that just won't go away can be exhausting. Maybe you've tried everything, or been told your scans look fine. Your pain is real, and there is a way forward. At Reset, we take the time to help you understand it and get back to living well.

What is persistent/chronic pain?

Persistent/chronic pain is pain that lasts longer than three months, beyond the usual time for tissues to heal. It's very common, affecting around one in five Australians.

Pain isn't just a measure of damage. It's your nervous system's way of protecting you. Over time, that pain system can become more sensitive, a bit like a car alarm that goes off when someone walks past. The pain is real, but it may no longer mean your body is being ‘harmed’.

Many things can affect the sensitivity of your pain signals, including:

  • Sleep, stress and mood

  • How active you are, and how much you're doing on a given day

  • Past injuries and experiences of pain

  • Worry about what the pain means

  • Work, life and relationships

The good news is that a sensitive system can also learn to settle.

Is this you?

  • You've had pain for months or years

  • Your pain moves around, spreads, or flares for no clear reason

  • Scans haven't explained how much it hurts

  • You've tried lots of treatments with little lasting change

  • Pain is affecting your sleep, work, exercise or mood

  • You're avoiding things you used to love in case they hurt

How we help

We don't just treat the sore spot. We look at the whole picture and work with you on a plan that fits your life. This may include:

  • Understanding your pain. Learning how pain works can reduce fear and change how your body responds.

  • Hands-on treatment. Gentle manual therapy, massage and dry needling to ease pain and help you move more freely.

  • Graded movement. Building activity up slowly and steadily, so your body regains confidence without big flare-ups.

  • Pacing. Finding a sustainable rhythm that breaks the boom-and-bust cycle.

  • Breathing and slow movement. Calm, mindful practices to settle a nervous system on high alert.

  • Everyday habits. Practical support with sleep, stress and work routines that affect pain.

  • Your goals first. Whether it's walking the dog, sitting through a workday or getting back to sport, we work towards what matters to you.

We're happy to work alongside your GP, psychologist or other health professionals.

Your first visit

  1. We listen. We'll hear your whole story, without rushing. You won't need to prove your pain is real.

  2. We assess. We'll look at how you move and what seems to be turning your pain up or down.

  3. We explain. You'll leave with a clearer understanding of your pain and why it's hanging around.

  4. We start. Together we'll agree on a few simple first steps.

We recommend booking a Long Initial Assessment (60 min) so there's plenty of time to cover everything.
